چکیده
In this paper, we investigate anomalies in total electron content (TEC) from 7 stations of the Africa Geodetic Reference Frame (AFREF) during initial and recovery stages geomagnetic storm 19 February 2014. Additionally, study storms under solar activity ascending period March 2012 low May 2017 to emphasize scintillation effects, especially nighttime. We employ a 15-days median-average sliding window latitudinal patterns relative TEC (rTEC) determine ionospheric irregularities using rate index (ROTI). The low-latitude show larger rTEC variations than midlatitude stations. ROTI strength >1 TECU/min is found at latitude postsunset <1 mid latitudes daytime. results that differences between may be caused by dynamo electric field originating energy input disturbances. observed significant intensity established are more pronounced stages.

Empirical Modeling of the Total Electron Content of the Ionosphere
With the appearance of such satellite systems as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and others, the total electron content TEC measured by means of navigational satellites became a key parameter characterizing a state of the ionized space. In turn, functioning of navigational and telecommunication systems needs models of TEC for an estimation of accuracy of positioning, for the short-term and long-term pre...
متن کاملSeismoionospheric GPS total electron content anomalies observed before the 12 May 2008 Mw7.9 Wenchuan earthquake
[1] The global ionospheric map (GIM) is used to observe variations in the total electron content (TEC) of the global positioning system (GPS) associated with 35 M 6.0 earthquakes that occurred in China during the 10-year period of 1 May 1998 to 30 April 2008. The statistical result indicates that the GPS TEC above the epicenter often pronouncedly decreases on day 3–5 before 17 M 6.3 earthquakes...
متن کاملAnnual and semiannual variations of vertical total electron content during high solar activity based on GPS observations
Annual, semiannual and seasonal variations of the Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) have been investigated during high solar activity in 2000. In this work we use Global IGS VTEC maps and Principal Component Analysis to study spatial and temporal ionospheric variability. The behavior of VTEC variations at two-hour periods, at noon and at night is analyzed. Particular characteristics associ...

6 [1] In this study, ionospheric solar flare effects on the total electron content (TEC) and 7 associated time rate of change (rTEC) derived from ground-based global positioning 8 system (GPS) receivers in the midday region are examined. The occurrence times and 9 locations of 11 solar flares are isolated from the 1–8 Å X-ray radiations of the 10 geosynchronous operational environmental satelli...
متن کاملStorms in the Ionosphere: Patterns and Processes for Total Electron Content
[1] The ionosphere’s total electron content (TEC) is a parameter widely used in studies of the near-Earth plasma environment. The scientific use of TEC appeared early in the artificial satellite era, and among its many contributions were fundamental insights into how the ionosphere responds to geomagnetic storms. While many excellent reviews of solar-terrestrial disturbances exist in the litera...
